Lumikko’s 5 kW Military Container Cooling Unit is designed for defence and special-purpose containers operating in demanding environmental conditions.
The outdoor unit can be installed in a recess in the container wall or integrated into a dedicated external equipment cabinet, depending on the container design and available installation space. Both installation options preserve valuable interior space. A separate ceiling-mounted evaporator distributes cooled air efficiently throughout the interior.
The system provides reliable temperature control for personnel, electronics and other mission-critical equipment in operating temperatures ranging from –40 °C to +49 °C.
Designed for protected container integration
Recess-mounted outdoor unit
The compact outdoor unit is designed to fit into a recess made in the front wall, with ballistic protection. This supports space-efficient installation and enables the cooling system to be incorporated into the container’s structural and ballistic protection concept.
Separate ceiling-mounted evaporator
The evaporator is installed inside the container, typically on the ceiling. This provides efficient air distribution without taking up valuable floor or working space.
Flexible system architecture
The outdoor unit and evaporator are connected with refrigerant piping, allowing the system layout to be adapted to the container structure, internal equipment and operational requirements.
Built for extreme operating conditions
Defence containers may be deployed in arctic cold, desert heat and rapidly changing environmental conditions. Stable internal temperatures are essential for protecting sensitive equipment and maintaining dependable operations.
The cooling unit is designed to operate in ambient temperatures from –40 °C to +49 °C, providing reliable cooling across a wide range of deployment environments.

The unit can be recessed into the container’s front wall to minimise its external projection. If the available installation depth within the front-wall structure is at least 300 mm, a separate recess is not required.
