Reliable Military Container Cooling Unit without compromising valuable interior space

Lumikko’s Military Container Cooling Unit is designed for defence and special purpose containers operating in demanding environmental conditions. The system provides reliable temperature control for personnel, electronics and other mission critical equipment in operating temperatures ranging from –20 °C to +49 °C.

The system is available in two configurations to suit different installation requirements:

• The Monoblock configuration provides a compact installation in which the outdoor unit is integrated into the container structure and the evaporator is mounted directly behind it on an adjustable metal wall frame. The system is delivered as a complete, ready to install package, with the refrigerant piping and refrigerant charge completed by Lumikko. This minimises the installation work required on site.
• The Split System configuration provides greater flexibility in positioning the units. As the outdoor unit and evaporator are supplied separately, the evaporator can be installed in the most suitable location based on the container layout, internal equipment and cooling requirements. The customer is responsible for connecting the units with refrigerant piping and charging the system with refrigerant on site.

Designed for protected container integration

Outdoor unit

The compact outdoor unit is designed to fit into different containers such as STANAG and ISO container. Our design supports space efficient installation and enables the cooling system to be incorporated into the container’s structural and ballistic protection concept.

Evaporator

The evaporator is installed inside the container, typically on the ceiling. This provides efficient air distribution without taking up valuable floor or working space.

Flexible Installation

The outdoor unit can be installed in two ways depending on the container:

• Recessed installation for ISO container: The unit is recessed into a corrugated container wall. The control panel is mounted directly onto the unit casing or can be installed separately at a suitable location inside the container.
• Surface mounted installation for STANAG or special container: The unit is mounted directly onto a flat exterior wall.

The indoor unit, evaporator, can also be installed in two ways:

• Ceiling mounted: The evaporator is installed on the ceiling.
• Wall mounted: The evaporator is installed directly behind the outdoor unit, with the container wall between them. An adjustable mounting plate allows the installation height to be adapted.

The outdoor unit and evaporator are connected with refrigerant piping, allowing the system layout to be adapted to the container structure, internal equipment and operational requirements.

The outdoor unit can be recessed into the container’s front wall to minimise its external projection. If the available installation depth within the front-wall structure is at least 300 mm, a separate recess is not required.

The Lumikko Window Unit is a cooling system for equipment rooms, designed to provide reliable cooling and heating for technical and operations spaces year-round. The unit is easy to install and does not require a refrigerant license; it is mounted directly into a wall opening, plugged into a power outlet, and is immediately ready for use. The temperature can be set to the desired level directly from the unit’s control panel.
